The Large Dragon Stamp Commemorative Stamp (Souvenir Sheet)

In honor of the 110th anniversary of the issurance of the Large Dragon stamps, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the PRC released on July 2, 1988 a souvenir sheet with a face value of RMB 3.00. The Large Dragon stamps are the first set of stamps officially issued in China. The three stamps with face values of one candarin, three candarins and five candarins, are different in color. The one candarin is silver green; the three candarins dark red, the five candarins orange. The motif of the design of the three denominations is dragon, clouds and water waves. As the stamps were printed and issued in three different years, they were also known as "Thin Paper Large Dragons", "Wide Margin Large Dragons" and "Thick Paper Large Dragons". The issurance of this set of stamps is a landmark of China´s Postal scervice in the modern times. The three Large Dragon stamps are the main design of the souvenir sheet issued this time.
